Mezzanine Floor Sprinkler Systems
Sprinkler Systems can be added to an existing or new mezzanine floor at any time. In many instances we have to provide a sprinkler system to co-inside with building regulations approval. On other occasions our clients request a sprinkler system to protect valuable materials and products or to offer fire protection from flammable substances and protect staff working in that area or above.
A standard fire sprinkler system disperses water at a rate of 75 - 150 litres a minute, an Early Suppression Fast Response (ESFR) sprinkler system discharges over 400 litres a minute. A sprinkler system takes between one and four minutes to kick in, from the point of ambient room temperate change. There are many types of sprinkler system the most suitable mezzanine sprinklers we have installed are 'wet pipe systems and 'dry pipe systems';
Wet Pipe Systems
When fitted these sprinkler systems constantly hold water under pressure in the system piping. They are considered the most reliable and most often used due to the only operating component being the automatic sprinklers and automatic alarm check valve.
Dry Pipe Systems
These Sprinkler systems are ideal in cold stores and areas where there is a cold ambient temperature when still water would freeze inside the pipping. Instead the water is held back by pressurised air. When the automatic sprinkler is exposed to temperate above the set norm, the air is expelled allowing the water to follow in the pipe. This creates a slight delay as water will not disperse until all the air has passed.
Each system has it's own benefits and is suitable for different situations. We can also incorporate 'pre - action systems' for delicate areas or foam water sprinkler systems.
