Mezzanine Floor Smoke Detection
Smoke Detection is often a stipulation to a mezzanine floor gaining building regulation approval. We have a number of options that our project managers can discuss with you. We always use specialist electricians for consultation and can provide a solution whatever the budget.
There are two types of smoke detector we commonly use on our mezzanine floor project, 'optical' and 'Ionisation'.
Optical Smoke Detectors:
These Smoke detectors have a light sensor which detects a reflected beam, if the beam becomes less visible due to smoke then the alarm sounds. This is a simple and popular system, ideal for 'smokey' fires but is often less effective with raging fires with less smoke where damage can be done before the alarm sounds.
Ionisation Smoke Detectors:
A small radioactive element allows radiation to pass through an air-filled space between two electrodes which permit a current. If smoke enters the chamber its absorbed by the alpha particles, which reduces ionisation, interupts the current, setting of the alarm.
There are other commercial smoke detectors avaliable.
On behalf of our client we can arrange the necessary smoke detection system needed with the help of our building regulations inspectors and trained electricians.
